Access Requests

When a filtering policy blocks a student from a web page, the Access Denied page appears. This happens when the page matches a restriction in your Web Filter category settings, an Exception List, or a Keyword Filter. Delegates, parents, and teachers can also apply their own restrictions, which block the student the same way.

Students can send an Access Request from the Access Denied page. The policy owner then reviews the request and either allows access to the page or denies it. Allowing a request grants access to the page.

Important

Students cannot send an Access Request when a Keyword Filter blocks the page.

Example of an Access Denied Page
Requests are routed to the owner of the policy that blocked the page:
  • Class policy - The request is routed to the teacher of the active class.

  • In-school or out-of-school policy - The request is routed to the administrator.

  • Parent filtering - The request is routed to the parent when the device is marked as out of school and parent filtering is enabled.

Delegates also receive requests from students in their delegated organizational units, in addition to the administrator.

To open the Access Requests page, click Content Filtering from the Main Menu, then click Access Requests from its sub-menu. The page appears, showing all pending requests from your students.

Access Requests Page

Access Requests must be activated on the Admin Dashboard before students can request access to a blocked page.

Important

Activating Access Requests replaces every custom access denied page with the default page. The feature works only when the default page is in use.

To activate Access Requests, click ON. To deactivate them, click OFF.

Activate Access Requests Toggle

You can also enable email notifications for incoming requests. Click Switch ON to Receive Email Notifications to turn notifications on, and click it again to turn them off. When notifications are on, Blocksi emails every address on the recipient list each time a student submits an Access Request.

Enable Email Notifications Section

To add a recipient, type their email address in the Input email for notifications text box, then click the Add New Email Button button. To review and manage the full list, click the View All Emails Button button. The Access Requests Recipients window opens.

  • Website - The URL the student tried to access.

  • Reason - The reason the student selected: Educational Purpose, Teacher Request, Parent Request, or Other.

  • Action - The available actions for the request.
