YouTube Channel Exception Lists

You can allow and block access to specific YouTube channels by adding them to the YouTube channel exception list. You can add the channel name or the URL of the channel.

You can create as many YouTube channel exception lists as you need.

To create a YouTube channel exception list

  1. Click Content Filtering from the Main Menu and then click Filters from its sub-menu.

  2. Click YOUTUBE CHANNEL EXCEPTION LIST at the top of the screen. The YouTube Channel Exception List screen appears.

  3. Type the name of the exception list in the Enter list name text field.

  4. Click Create List + to add the list. The list appears at the bottom of the listing.

  5. Click the Edit Icon icon. The Edit screen appears. See Adding a Channel to a YouTube Channel Exception List for details on adding channels.

You can add as many channels as you need to a YouTube channel exception list.

To add a channel to a YouTube channel exception list

  1. Type the exact name of the channel or the complete URL in the YouTube channel text field.

  2. Click Allow to allow this channel, or click Block to block this channel.

  3. Click Add to List + to add the channel. The channel appears at the bottom of the listing.

You can delete a channel from a YouTube channel exception list when you no longer need it.

To delete a channel from a YouTube channel exception list

  1. Click Content Filtering from the Main Menu and then click Filters from its sub-menu.

  2. Click YOUTUBE CHANNEL EXCEPTION LIST at the top of the screen. The YouTube Channel Exception List screen appears.

  3. Locate the list from which you want to delete the channel, and click the Edit Icon icon. The Edit screen appears.

  4. Locate the channel you want to delete and click the Delete Icon icon. A confirmation prompt appears.

  5. Click OK to delete the channel. The channel is deleted

You can rename a YouTube channel exception list as needed.

To rename a YouTube channel exception list

  1. Click Content Filtering from the Main Menu and then click Filters from its sub-menu.

  2. Click YOUTUBE CHANNEL EXCEPTION LIST at the top of the screen. The YouTube Channel Exception List screen appears.

  3. Locate the list that you want to rename, and click the list name. A box opens to allow you to rename the list. Note that Save and Cancel buttons have been added to the right of the name, as shown below.

  4. Rename the list, and click the Save button.

You can modify YouTube channel exception list at any time.

To modify a YouTube channel exception list

  1. Click Content Filtering from the Main Menu and then click Filters from its sub-menu.

  2. Click YOUTUBE CHANNEL EXCEPTION LIST at the top of the screen. The YouTube Channel Exception List screen appears.

  3. Locate the list that you want to modify, and click the Edit Icon icon to the right of the list. The edit page appears. See Adding a Channel to a YouTube Channel Exception List.

You can export your exception lists to a .csv file to open in a spreadsheet program, such as Microsoft Excel.

To export a YouTube channel exception list

  1. Click Content Filtering from the Main Menu and then click Filters from its sub-menu.

  2. Click YOUTUBE CHANNEL EXCEPTION LIST at the top of the screen. The YouTube Channel Exception List screen appears.

  3. Locate the list that you want to export, and click the Export File Icon icon. The file appears in the lower left-hand corner of your screen in your spreadsheet program. Click it to open and save it.

Note

In the spreadsheet, URLs that are blocked are indicated by a 1; URLs that are allowed are represented by a 0.

You can import exception lists from a .csv file.

To import a YouTube channel exception list

  1. Click Content Filtering from the Main Menu and then click Filters from its sub-menu.

  2. Click YOUTUBE CHANNEL EXCEPTION LIST at the top of the screen. The YouTube Channel Exception List screen appears.

  3. Click the Import Lists button to import the list. Navigate to the desired folder, locate the file, and click Open. The list appears in the list.

You can use an existing YouTube channel exception list to create a new one.

To duplicate a YouTube channel exception list

  1. Click Content Filtering from the Main Menu and then click Filters from its sub-menu.

  2. Click YOUTUBE CHANNEL EXCEPTION LIST at the top of the screen. The YouTube Channel Exception List screen appears.

  3. Locate the list to duplicate, and click the Duplicate Icon icon. The Duplicate Filter window opens.

  4. Type the name of the new list in the text box.

  5. Click OK to add the list. The duplicated list appears at the bottom of the listing. It contains the same blocked and allowed channels as the original list.

  6. Make any desired changes to the new list and save it.

You can delete a YouTube channel exception list when you no longer need it.

To delete a YouTube channel exception list

  1. Click Content Filtering from the Main Menu and then click Filters from its sub-menu.

  2. Click YOUTUBE CHANNEL EXCEPTION LIST at the top of the screen. The YouTube Exception List screen appears.

  3. Locate the name of the web filter you want to delete, and click the Delete Icon icon. A confirmation prompt appears.

  4. Click OK to delete the list. The list is removed.
